Be Inspired Again

OUR VALUES

TRUTH

The Bible is the basis of all that we do. We study it, teach it, and use it as the filter through which we view the world around us. We accept it as inspired by God and authoritative in life. The Bible points us to Jesus, and His gift of salvation.

GRACE

Grace means receiving something that is not earned. God has shown us grace through His Son Jesus and given us a new start. Having experienced God’s grace, we are to show grace to others around us. Forgiveness, acceptance, and patience are all expressions of grace. When we demonstrate grace, we imitate God.

PEOPLE

The Church is made up of people who are following Jesus together. We come from different backgrounds and experiences with different ideas, dreams, and needs, yet God values each one. Programs and buildings are useful, but the Church is about people God loves. We can accomplish more working side by side than we can apart. We’re better together.

GROWTH

Following Jesus is not intended to be static. It is a progression that is complete only when life is over. It is a process that includes mistakes. It is a process that no one has perfected. What we value is not perfection, but progress. God is pleased as we grow in Him.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

The Church does not exist solely for the benefit of its members. It is a movement started by Jesus long ago. The Church is made up of people who show compassion to a hurting world, pointing them to Jesus, the only one who can really make a difference in their lives.

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

What exactly do Christians mean when they talk about the “gospel of Jesus Christ”? Since the word “gospel” means “good news,” when Christians talk about the gospel, they’re simply telling the good news about Jesus. It’s a message of hope from God saying, “Good news! I love you and have sent my son Jesus to save you from judgement.”

The Bible tells us that we can know for sure that we have this hope of eternal life with God. In 1 John 5:13, it says, “I write these things to you…that you may know that you have eternal life.” If you don’t yet have this assurance, here’s how you can be certain today:

Grace

Heaven Is a Free Gift

No amount of personal effort, good works, or religious deeds can earn a place in heaven for you. Eternal life with God is offered as a free gift.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” —Romans 6:23

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” —Ephesians 2:8–9

Man

We Are All Sinners

If you wanted to save yourself by good deeds, the Bible says you would have to be perfect. The problem? Every person who has ever lived has missed God’s standard of perfection.

“[F]or all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” —Romans 3:23

“For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.” —James 2:10

God

He Loves Us

God is merciful and therefore doesn’t want to punish us. However, the same Bible that tells of God’s perfect love also says that God is just and therefore must punish sin.

“Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” —1 John 4:8

“[T]he soul who sins shall die.” —Ezekiel 18:4

Jesus

He Made a Way

God balanced justice and love through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus is the infinite God-man, God in the flesh. He died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay the penalty for our sins and to purchase a place for us in heaven.

“In the beginning was the Word [Jesus], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…[a]nd the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…” —John 1:1, 14a

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son [Jesus], that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” —John 3:16

Faith

Trust in Christ Alone

Saving faith is not merely intellectual assent; it is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. It means resting upon Jesus and what He has done rather than what we can do to get to heaven.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith.” —Ephesians 2:8a

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has eternal life.” —John 6:47
